FRANCE and Germany’s different responses to the coronavirus pandemic will contribute to the process of “disintegration” the European Union has begun to experience since the Brexit vote.
C19 has hit countries in Southern Europe hard. During the first lockdown, the Commission President decided to cut off and shut borders with Italy and Spain. Even when the two countries asked for emergency help, the EU ignored them, which cost many lives. Many town mayors took down the EU flags saying where’s the solidarity?.
Since then, the EU has tried to make up for the lack of unity and involvement to help save lives, but the divide is still there. The EU has given millions in aid to certain countries try and help with the fallout of the Pandemic.
People know help from the EU came too late, but the question remains. Can the EU survive the Pandemic and the UK leaving the bloc?
